-How should I get my hair cut? Should I cut it short?
-How short is short?
-Maybe like to here.
-Oo, that's short.
-Maybe I'll just shave it all off. What do you think?
-Oh, I think that'd be cute! Then you could do the kind of cancer patient hat thing!
-MOM!
-What? I'm just saying you have a cute head, that's all.
-MOM!
-And you look good in hats!
-That's it--this is going straight to LiveJournal.
-Oh, don't do that...*

(My mother, realizing that I am leaving for the west in less than one week, is putting forth an even greater effort to make the most of our time together. After the men of the house have hit the hay, she stays up late to drink tea and talk with me. To be fair, it was past her bedtime.)

*Sorry, Mom.

Genetics & tics.

Oh, that's only the half of it. My father sings fake opera in the shower and throws Chinese stars for fun. When he went away on a romantic weekend with my mother and I was watching the house, he spent the hour before they left going over how to shoot the pistol with me in the woods behind the house. Just in case. And we live in the country now.

Isn't it beautiful that people like this can find each other and fall in love?

I think your hair would look cute short. However...I think I might be biased...

Yes they are--and I do recall that yours is exceptionally funny. We should have a Mom playdate when they come for graduation.

I fear putting two such powers of fun together, but it seems wrong to have them so close and keep them separated. Mom Playdate-- Yah!

I love your mom! Give her a big hug for me before you leave.

i tried callin ya tonight but alas no answer, I guess Ill have to wait until tommorrow to find out how the pastery you ate for me was. You know these questions are eating me up inside, did she enjoy it? did it make her feel ill? dont you know I have life altering descisions to make based on your response? next time when you ask me to call if I have nothing better to do given a 5 hour time span, I expect you to pick the phone on the first ring. I expected you to be there for me when I needed you. *wimper* How else can I know if it was a good pastery or a bad *wimper* one *wail*.

love ya
call me tommorrow :)

My mom says, "Hi Kate!" and "Give Kate a big hug for me, too!"

Oh, and the other day I stumbled upon some handwritten notes for the "Gradually Replace Meg with Kate in L------ Family Project: TOP SECRET, SHH!!" Don't think I'm not on to you.

:)

Kate?

Wait. Is that Kate? As in Reed Kate I should add you to my friends' list Kate? Or a different Kate?

I'll tell you truly.

I first posted on your journal because you were listening to "Martha My Dear."
